Confirmation
Confirmation is a sacrament of initiation that is closely connected to Baptism and Eucharist. It strengthens an individuals bond with the church and enriches them with an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Confirmation preparation is about learning how to really live, aware that God is alive, in you and around you, in the midst of the Catholic Christian Community.
As with all the sacraments, preparation is parish based. Prior to preparation each candidate must have two years of catholic school or faith formation. Preparation includes 4-6 sessions involving both parents and sponsors. The actual celebration of the sacrament is at Sacred Heart Cathedral on a date pre-determined by the Diocese. Readiness determines the age of receiving, however at Our Mother of Sorrows, the preparation classes and materials are generally geared for those in middle school and older.
